FARMINGTON — A local woman is accused of leaving her 20-month-old child in a locked car in a parking lot for about 20 minutes while she shopped at Walmart on Wilton Road.
Officer Justin Blais issued Denise Boulette, 34, of Farmington a court summons on a misdemeanor charge of endangering the welfare of a child on Aug. 20, Police Department secretary Bonnie Pomeroy said.
Blais investigated after two witnesses reported the child in the locked car at about 4:45 p.m. Aug. 14 with the windows down about 2 to 3 inches, according Blais’ report, Pomeroy said Thursday. The vehicle was not running. One witness reported to police that the baby was crying, she said.
Boulette told police the baby was sleeping when she went into the store, Pomeroy said.
Boulette is scheduled to appear in a Farmington court on Oct. 9.
