SKOWHEGAN (AP) — Police say a Cornville man accused of threatening to kill people at a charter school in town has an extensive criminal history and was on probation.
James Mayo pleaded not guilty to the charge of probation violation during an arraignment Tuesday but did not enter a plea to charges of terrorizing, criminal threatening and criminal mischief in connection with Monday’s incident at the Cornville Regional Charter School. He was held in jail.
Police had to use pepper spray and a stun gun on the 42-year-old Mayo to subdue him.
Police told the Morning Sentinel (http://bit.ly/17DPErM ) Mayo was banging on the school’s windows, threatening to kill people. He did not have a weapon.
No students were at the school, but staffers were inside preparing for the first day of classes.
