PORTLAND — The Portland Pirates have filed a lawsuit against the Cumberland County Civic Center over a dispute regarding a lease agreement.

The Portland Press Herald reports (http://bit.ly/165P4o4 ) that the Pirates are seeking a preliminary injunction to ensure that the center doesn’t give away dates for scheduled this hockey season. The team wants an expedited hearing for the case to be considered.

Pirates’ ownership and the Civic Center trustees have been far apart on some major items regarding revenue in negotiations on a new five-year lease.

The team is also seeking to maintain an unsigned agreement with the center to share some of the revenue from concession stands and advertising.
