GRAY — Gray-New Gloucester High School was evacuated Thursday morning because of a possible bomb, police said.

High school administrators reported at 8:45 a.m. that a note in a bathroom indicated there was a bomb threat to the school, according to a release from Capt. Shawn O’Leary of the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office.

The school was evacuated and the sheriff’s office, assisted by the Portland Police Department and a Maine State Police bomb-detecting dog, searched the building.

No explosives were found and students returned to class after two to three hours, O’Leary said.

The sheriff’s office continues to investigate the incident.
