SEARSMONT — A Maine State Police trooper shot and wounded a man at a residence at 245 New England Road on Friday afternoon, according to the Maine Department of Public Safety.
Details about what happened, the names of the people involved and the condition of the man who was shot were not immediately available, public safety spokesman Steve McCausland said at about 4:30 p.m. The trooper was not injured.
The shooting took place between 3 and 3:30 p.m., he said. Police called Waldo County dispatchers to have an ambulance sent to the scene. As is the case with all officer-involved shootings, the Maine attorney general’s office is investigating, McCausland said.
More information was likely to be forthcoming later Friday, he said.
