1923 – 2013

FARMINGTON — Marcel I. Guay of Jay died peacefully on Saturday, Sept. 21, at Sandy River Nursing Home surrounded by his loving family. He lived in Lewiston for 70 years, before moving to Jay.

He was born in Lewiston on June 9, 1923, the son of Origene and Beatrice (Cote) Guay. He married Theresa LeBlanc on Nov. 26, 1943. He served in the U.S. Army from 1943-45. Marcel served on the Lewiston police force for 25 years and, after retiring, worked as a bank courier until his final retirement.

He is survived by four sons, Robert Guay of South Dakota, Richard Guay and his wife, Sue, of Tempe, Ariz., Roland Guay and his wife, Claire, of Old Orchard Beach and Ronald Guay and his wife, Laurie, of Jay; 10 grandchildren, Brian, Jeffrey, Jennifer, Jessica, Michael, Chelsey, Joshua, Heather, Taylor and Acadia; seven great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his wife, a sister and two brothers.
