GREENE — Tommy’s Feral Feline Friends will hold its annual barbecue and bottle drive from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 5, next to Ferris Equipment, Route 202. Tommy’s Feral Feline Friends is a volunteer, no-kill organization that strives to support abandoned cats that live a feral existence due to human abandonment.

Volunteers build and maintain outdoor shelters to help protect the cats through all kinds of weather. Some shelters are hundreds of feet into the woods, and the paths cats use have to be cleared after each snowstorm or heavy rain.

Volunteers also bring food and water for the cats and stay with them while they feed so they can eat free of fear from predators.

The organization also provides spaying, neutering, vaccinations and medicine for sick and injured animals. Foster care and rehabilitation with the goal of eventual adoption are also provided. Tommy’s relies solely on donations and fundraisers for its support.
