PORTLAND (AP) — Maine’s largest city is looking for the perfect Christmas tree.

Portland and Portland’s Downtown District are seeking recommendations for a tree that will stand tall in a downtown plaza for the holiday season.

City Arborist Jeff Tarling says the city is looking for a 40- to 60-foot well-rounded tree within 15 miles of Portland that needs to be taken down. If selected, the tree will be cut down and transported at no cost to the owner.

The tree will be decorated with 3,000 LED lights and displayed in Monument Square for the holidays.
