BETHEL — The Western Mountains Jeep Jamboree is returning to Bethel for the 24th consecutive year. More than 100 Jeeps will parade up Main Street at 9 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 5.
The Jeep Jamboree, according to its website, is a “full two-day, family oriented four-wheel-drive adventure” where residents who sign up are able to take their Jeeps on six off-road trails of varying degrees of difficulty.
The parade is open to the public, said Brad Jerome, director of sales and marketing for the Bethel Inn Resort. People will be able to see a wide range of Jeeps, from World War II models to ’70s and ’80s models to Wranglers and Cherokees.
The jamboree is being organized by a Jeep Jamboree USA team from northern California, as well as a group of local enthusiasts called the Western Maine Jeepers, a number of different Bethel-area landowners and the Bethel Chamber of Commerce.
“The Western Maine Jeepers will coordinate the trail rides and do maintenance on the trails,” Jerome said.
The event headquarters is at The Bethel Inn Resort. A lobster bake will be held at the Inn’s main dining room Saturday evening for those who participate in the trail rides.
