1936 – 2013

LEWISTON — Margaret “Peggy” Ann Harmatys, 77, a resident of Livermore Falls, died Sunday, Oct. 6, at Central Maine Medical Center, with her loving family by her side.

She was born on Aug. 28, 1936, in Philipsburg, Pa., the daughter of Arthur Russell Duttry and Irene (Ligdett) Duttry. She attended LaSale High School in Niagara Falls, N.Y., and graduated in 1979 from Livermore Falls High School. On Jan. 8, 1955, in Niagara Falls, she married her husband of 58 years, Stanley Jack Harmatys. Peggy worked retail for many years at Ames Department Store in Jay and for the past 10 years at the Family Dollar in Livermore Falls.

Peggy enjoyed knitting, crafts and making dolls, but especially loved having family holidays at her home, with her family. She will be deeply missed for her wit and sense of humor.

She is survived by her husband, Stanley Harmatys of Livermore Falls; her daughter, Terry Harmatys of Colorado; sons, Jack Harmatys and his wife, Julie, of Jay, and Bob Harmatys and his wife, Rebecca, of Livermore; grandchildren, Russell Greeley and his wife, Krystal, Bill Greeley, Christopher Greeley and his longtime companion, Emily Marsters, Brittany Carrier, Cassaundra Harmatys, Alexa Harmatys and Grace Harmatys; great-grandson, Hunter Greeley; and two sisters, Judith and Sharon.

She was predeceased by her parents and her sister, Carol Piche.
