1921- 2013

AUBURN — Ida Marie Cecile Banach, 92, a resident of Lisbon, died Thursday, Oct. 10, at the Hospice House with her son, Robert, by her side following a long illness.

She was born in Lauchine, P.Q., on Aug. 24, 1921, the daughter of Arthur and Vitaline (Foisy) Charette.

She received her education from the Sisters of St. Anne in Lachine and her GED from Lewiston High School Adult Education Program. On Oct. 23, 1954, she was married in Lachine to, AF Sgt Joseph W. Banach, who passed away April 5, 1981. She and her husband moved to Vermont in the Spring of 1955 and later lived in Long Island, N.Y., until 1965 when they then moved to Lisbon.

Ida had been employed with Canada Packers in Montreal for 13 years and in Maine at the former Value House and Service Merchandise retailers for 13 years, retiring in 1979.

Her joys in life were cooking, caring for her home, and feeding and watching the birds and animals that visited her backyard.

Ida is survived by her son, Robert, of Lisbon; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides her husband, she was predeceased by a brother, Arthur Charette; and a sister, Helene Meloche.
