What has Mayor Robert Macdonald done during the past two years that you agree with? What has he done that you disagree with?

I appreciate Mayor Macdonald’s support of Paradis Park and also that he appointed me to the school committee. His participation in the BBC documentary, on the other hand, concerns me because it brought negative publicity to our city.

What has the city council done during the past two years that you agree with? What have they done that you disagree with?

I am really happy with the new parking plan in downtown, the bicycle routes, altered bus routes, as well as the increase in green space.

What has the city administrator and the city staff done during the past two years that you agree with? What have they done that you disagree with?

Planapalooza was a wonderful success. The city staff also did a fantastic job in the wake of the recent fires.

What has the school committee done during the past two years that you agree with? What have they done that you disagree with?

I agree with the new Dingley School program for students under disciplinary action. I appreciate their adding August graduation dates. I myself helped the board pass the transformed graduation requirements, now including technological facility and soft employment skills such as public speaking and interview comportment.

What should be done with Bates Mill No. 5?

I enthusiastically support Grow L-A’s Five to Farm project. Why would we tear down usable space at a cost to the city when we could create a productive and lucrative public/private partnership? Indoor soccer turf is high on my list of necessary additions to the project. Having a downtown grocery store will add to our quality of life. The proposed gym, public market and urban farm are also attractive to me.

Any last words?

I am running for the at large seat on the school board in order to represent the entire community of Lewiston, and that means all our children from K-12, and never forgetting about members of our Adult Education Program and also those in special ed.
