HAYWARD, CALIF. — Diana Curran Au, 78, of Hayward, Calif., died at her home, surrounded by her four daughters and her sister on Friday, Oct. 4, after a short illness.

She was born in Lewiston on Dec. 9, 1934, the daughter of Joseph and Claire Lapointe Curran. She graduated from Edward Little High School in 1955 and Diane proudly served in the U.S. Navy as a hospital corpsman from 1955 to 1958.

She retired as a food service manager with the Hayward Unified School District in 2001, after 25 years of service. She also worked as a salesperson in the drapery department at Montgomery Ward for 15 years. She was married to Stephan H. Au from 1956 to 1972.

Diana is survived by her four daughters and their families, Barbara Delafiganiere and her husband, Mark, and their son, Andrew, of Hayward, Calif.; Jacqueline McPherson and her husband, Bob, and their children, Lyle and Madeline, of Bangkok, Thailand; Sandra Au and Diane’s grandcat, Callie, of Hayward, Calif.; and Patricia Chambers and her children, Rachel, Curtis, Matthew and Tabitha and her grandchildren, Junior, Gabby, Noah and Jonah of Alameda, Calif. Diana is also survived by a brother, Charles and his wife, Linda; and a sister, Louise and her husband, Walter Gary, of Auburn and their families, as well as a special nephew, Gage Gary.

She was predeceased by her parents of Auburn; two brothers, Joseph of Lewiston and Donald of Auburn; and a grandson, Patrick of Alameda, Calif.

Diana was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister. Generous and honest, she always knew what was in the heart of her family.
