1929 – 2013

FARMINGTON — Dorothy “Perky” R. Bangs, 84, a resident of Livermore Falls, died Friday, Oct. 18, at Franklin Memorial Hospital, where she had been a patient for the past five days.

She was born April 11, 1929, in Bedford, Mass., the daughter of Lyndon S. Perkins and Ruth A. (Sawyer) Perkins. Perky graduated from Lexington High School and continued her education at Bridgewater State Teachers College and graduated from Worcester State Teachers College.

On Nov. 11, 1948, in Bedford, Mass., she married her husband of 59 years, Paul S. Bangs; he passed away Sept. 10, 2008.

She worked as a teacher for 21 years at the Douglas School in Massachusetts. She was a member of the Business and Professional Women’s Association, the Women’s Club of Livermore Falls, Livermore Falls Historical Society, Women’s Legislative Council and the Charity Rebekah Lodge of Livermore Falls. Perky enjoyed gardening, sewing, cooking and quilting.

She is survived by her daughters, Jeanette MacDonald and her husband, Ross, of Livermore, and Allison O’Brien and her companion, Scott Harper, of Norton, Mass.; her son, Paul L. Bangs and his wife, Sharon, of Charlton, Mass.; five grandchildren, Megan, Aaron and Jill MacDonald, Jenny-Elizabeth O’Brien and Jason Bangs; and great-grandson, Aaron Theodore MacDonald.
