1926 – 2013

CANTON — Leatrice E. True, 87, a resident of Livermore and Leeds, died Saturday, Oct. 19, at Victorian Villa Nursing Home, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born Jan. 11, 1926, in Livermore Falls, the daughter of Harold and Goldie (Gould) Rose. She attended school in Livermore and Monmouth Academy and later received her GED.

On June 22, 1940, in Livermore Falls she married Chester True; he passed away Feb. 6, 1984. Leatrice devoted her life to her family and home through years as she and Chester raised their family in Livermore.

Later, when the children were older, she worked in the local shoe shops. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting and making dolls. Leatrice’s home was always a flurry of activity, full of children, family and friends; she always made you feel welcomed and like family when you walked through the door. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.

She is survived by her three sons, Larry True and his wife, Joyce, of Leeds, Timothy True and his wife, Philippa, of Hartford, and Russell True and his wife, Karen, of North Jay; four daughters, Joanne Mitchell of Livermore, Nancy Timberlake of Livermore, Patricia True of Auburn, and Sandra Burgess and her husband, Reggie, of Leeds; 14 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; her brother, Hugh Rose of Livermore; sister-in-law, Edith Rose of Greensboro, Md.; her 102-year-old cousin, Mildred Robinson of Monmouth and Florida; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Chester True; sons, Roger True and infant son, David True; an infant daughter; two infant grandsons; brothers, Nelson and Llewellyn Rose; sons-in-law, Phillip Timberlake and Richard Mitchell Sr.; and sisters-in-law, Ruth and Rita Rose.
