LEWISTON — A dynamic wind quintet known for lively, imaginative stagecraft, WindSync will play music by Anton Reicha, Astor Piazzolla, David Maslanka and Maurice Ravel at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 1, in the Olin Concert Hall at Bates College, 75 Russell St.
The quintet consists of Garett Hudson, flutist; Erin Tsai, oboist; clarinetist Jack Marquardt; bassoonist Tracy Jacobson; and Anni Hochhalter, who plays the horn. These five virtuoso players specialize in creative, engaging and interactive concerts that inspire audiences of all ages.
The group is known for performances that expand the wind quintet repertoire to include new commissions and a wide array of original arrangements of masterworks. The quintet also incorporates movement, masks and costuming into their stagecraft as a way to further captivate their audiences.

- WindSync frequently performs in schools under the aegis of Young Audiences of Houston, an arts program that has applauded the band for its “extraordinary ability to connect students, educators, administrators and parents in a powerful and meaningful way.” WindSync was selected by Concert Artists Guild for the 2012 Sylvia Ann Hewlett Adventurous Artist Prize and received performance prizes from the CAG competition, including the ensemble’s New York debut at Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall in November 2013. Other highlighted engagements of their 2013-14 season include the Grand Teton Music Festival, Washington Performing Arts Society’s Music in the Country series, the Music in the Park Series of The Schubert Club (St. Paul, Minn.) and the Regina A. Quick Center for the Arts at St. Bonaventure University.
