SOUTH PORTLAND — Republican Gov. Paul LePage and the former New Hampshire GOP speaker of the House are headlining a luncheon for a Maine conservative advocacy group.
LePage and William O’Brien are expected to speak at the Maine Heritage Policy Center’s Freedom and Opportunity Luncheon on Friday in South Portland.
O’Brien led New Hampshire’s House of Representatives from 2010 to 2012.
The group says he oversaw the passage of a budget that reduced overall spending by $1.2 billion over the previous budget. It says the budget passed while O’Brien was in charge included no new tax increases or fees.
The Maine Heritage Policy Center describes itself as a promoter of conservative public policies based on principles like free enterprise and individual freedom.
LePage also plans to attend summits to discuss drug crimes with law enforcement officials Friday in Westbrook and Auburn. The Auburn summit is scheduled for 2 p.m.
