PORTLAND — Henry Cleaves scored first to ignite the Waynflete offense, as it routed Lisbon 7-2 in a Western Class C boys’ soccer preliminary round matchup.

Waynflete utilized five different scorers on a brisk Saturday afternoon in Portland. Cleaves led the offense with two goals, while Abel Alemayo, Isaac Scher, Serge Syirikamba, Aaron Lee and Joe Schnier tallied a goal each on the day.

Nate Bergeron had his work cut out for him in net, stopping 14 shots, while Austin Bedford tallied a goal for the Greyhounds. Waynflete moves on to play unbeaten North Yarmouth Academy in the Quarterfinals of Western Class C playoffs.

Men’s basketball

CMCC 93, UNBSJ 51

AUBURN — Central Maine Community College had four different scorers with 10 points, led by Shaun Hill who tallied 14, as they routed University New Brunswick-Saint John 93-51 in college basketball.

Kazre Cummings, Luis Modina, Xavier Colbert and Carington Miller all tallied 10 points on the day for the Mustangs, who led by nearly 30 at the end of the first half.
