CHESTERVILLE — The North Chesterville Extension Homemakers planned the 2014 programs and elected officers at a recent meeting.

The Homemakers have made plans for the free Chesterville Halloween Party and are making plans for the free Chesterville Christmas Party.

In September, along with completing the craft for the Rotary Christmas tree to be auctioned in December for charity, a surprise going-away party was given for member Elly Charette. She is moving soon, and the group wanted to honor her. Cake, cards and gifts were presented.

In October, it was time to get down to the business of preparing for 2014. Election of officers resulted as follows: president, Susan Gill; vice president, Linda Brown; treasurer, Susan Starrett; secretary and Advisory Board representative, Linda Gramlich; and substitute Advisory Board representative, Linda Brown.

Program planning discussion brought several ideas. The group decided meetings will be held at 7 p.m. on the third Thursday of the month in the Chesterville Town Office unless otherwise noted.

Programs will be held as follows: Jan. 16, planning the free Senior Citizen Valentine Luncheon and make-a-craft/table favor; Feb. 20, plan the bake sale for the town meeting and have a Lancaster County presentation.

March 20, TBA; April 10, Everyone’s Resource Depot Tour at 5 p.m.; May 15,  “Saving Money with Homemade Convenience Mixes”; June, date TBA, annual outing to the Wedding Cake House or Bryant’s Stove Museum; Sept. 25, craft for Rotary Christmas Tree ornament,

Oct. 16, program planning, election of officers and dues; Nov. 20, “Maine Holiday Gifts from the Kitchen”; and Dec.11, annual Christmas Party.

All meetings are free and open to the public. For more information about meetings or for directions to an event, call 778-3156. The North Chesterville Extension Homemakers are in partnership with the University of Maine Cooperative Extension.
