Although I (along with many others) was saddened to hear last spring that Bob Connors was resigning from the Lewiston School Committee for health reasons, that sadness was tempered somewhat by the news that the City Council had appointed Zam Zam Mohamud to complete Connors’ term. Mohamud has done a terrific job in that capacity, adding her expertise and enthusiasm to the committee’s efforts to assure a quality education for all our children.

I met her soon after she arrived in Lewiston 12 years ago and know first-hand how hard she has worked during those years as a liaison between the “new Mainers” and those of us who have been around longer.

I am delighted that this thoughtful, intelligent, good woman is willing to continue to serve our community, and I will be proud to vote on Nov. 5 for Zam Zam Mohamud for Lewiston School Committee.
