NORWAY – Stephens Memorial Hospital will offers two programs on Wednesday and Thursday, Nov. 13 and 14.

DASH Diet to Lower High Blood Pressure to be held from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 13. The program will be held in the Harper Conference Center in the Ripley Medical Office Building, 193 Main St.

The DASH Diet has been proven to help people lower their blood pressure. Stephens Memorial Hospital’s registered dietitian Pat Watson will discuss the eating plan and there will be low-sodium, heart-healthy recipes. DASH diet booklets and recipes will be provided.

The hospital will hold a Heartsaver First Aid course from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 14, in the hospital board room, 181 Main St.

PACE Ambulance Service’s Ben McKenney, American Heart Association certified instructor, will present the course for parents, childcare providers, grandparents and teachers.

The course will teach the basics of first aid and how to respond to a medical emergency. The text, “Heartsaver First Aid,” will be provided, and participants will receive a two-year first aid certification.
