AUBURN — The American Legion, William J. Rogers Post 153, is co-sponsoring the 7th annual Firehouse Chili with the Lewiston and Auburn firefighters.

The event will be held from noon to 3 p.m. Monday, Nov. 11, at Post 153, 71 South Main St.

Lewiston-Auburn firefighters, Lt. John M. Cloutier of the Lewiston Fire Department and Lt. Rick Brown of the Auburn Fire Department are working together in co-sponsoring the event with the William J. Rogers post.

The Veterans Of Foreign War Post 1603, Auburn is donating the cake for the event and Post 153 is providing finger rolls.

Crews from six firehouses will serve chili and cornbread. The fire department color guard will also hold a brief ceremony at the post before the luncheon.

“This is the seventh year these firefighters offer Firehouse Chili on Veterans’ Day at the post and the variety of chilies are awesome, I believe last year one had venison,” said Paul R. Bernard, Post 153 commander. “But what’s even more special is that these firefighters, EMTs and paramedics who respond to thousands of fires and emergency calls annually, not to mention they are protecting the lives and property of those who reside, work or travel through the city of Lewiston and Auburn, they still take time to remember and honor veterans on Veterans’ Day.”
