PORTLAND (AP) — Maine state troopers have tracked down a Portland woman they say left the scene after forcing another vehicle off Interstate 295 and sending four people to the hospital.

Police said a vehicle driven by 44-year-old Julie Caton was passing on the right in the southbound lanes in Cumberland just after 4 p.m. Wednesday when she struck a car driven by 35-year-old Casey Larcombe of Brewer.

Police said the impact forced Larcombe’s car into the median, where it rolled onto its side. Larcombe, an adult passenger, and children ages 8 and 12 were hospitalized with minor injuries.

A witness took down a license plate number that was used to track Caton to her home. She’s charged with misdemeanor leaving the scene of an accident and failing to report an accident.
