JAY — The second-annual Jake Lord Play It Safe Foundation alumni basketball games will be played Friday, Nov. 29 at the newly renovated Spruce Mountain High School Gymnasium.
The foundation, named after the late, recent three-sport athlete from Jay High School, is dedicated to awareness of high quality sports equipment, concussion awareness and screening programs, and promoting policies that protect youth athletes.
Game schedule is as follows:
Game 1 — Girls alumni game, 4 p.m.
Game 2 — Spruce Mountain boys’ varsity vs. Spruce Mountain boys’ alumni, 6 p.m.
Game 3 — JHS alumni v. LFHS alumni, 8 p.m.

The organization is seeking businesses to sponsor the games by donating $25. Each donating business will be announced at the start of each quarter. Please contact Jenna Lord 931-9606 if you are interested. Food donations will be accepted as well. If you would like to make a dish/crock-pot/baked good for the day of the event, please notify one of the organizers.
Area High school basketball fans will get their first look at the competition when teams square off in the Auburn-Lewiston Sports Hall of Fame Gipper’s Basketball Tip-Off Classic on Nov. 29 and 30.
The teams will play at the Edward Little High School gymnasium with games scheduled each day for the sixth annual edition of this event.
This years’s action will feature girls’ varsity teams on Friday, while the boys’ squads will meet on Saturday. Both boys’ and girls’ junior varsity teams from LHS and ELHS also will be part of the weekend program.
Admission per day will be $5 for adults and $3 for students and seniors.

4 p.m. Lewiston JVs vs. Edward Little JVs

Boys — Saturday, Nov. 30
1 p.m. Gorham vs. Edward Little
2 p.m. Poland vs. Lewiston
4 p.m. Lewiston JVs vs. Edward Little JVs
5:30 p.m. Gorham vs. Lewiston
7 p.m. Poland vs. Edward Little
