MEXICO — A chain-reaction accident on River Road injured one driver Tuesday, interim police Chief Roy Hodsdon said.

A 2009 GMC pickup truck driven by Paula Holman, 53, of Dixfield was stopped to turn left into The Big Apple gas station at around 11:49 a.m. and a 2001 GMC sport utility vehicle driven by Roxanne Roberts, 21, of Bethel was stopped behind it, he said. A vehicle driven by Tyler Child, 24, of Peru struck the back of Roberts’ SUV, pushing it into Holman’s truck, he said.

Hodsdon said Holman was transported to Rumford Hospital with neck pain. Child and Roberts were not injured, he said.

Child had two passengers, including a 9-month-old infant.

“The infant had a full check done on site and there were no injuries found to anybody in their car,” Hodsdon said. “Their vehicle was totaled, though. It was pushed in like an accordion.”

The vehicles of Child and Holman had minor damage.
