LEWISTON — Joseph W. Caron, 81, of Oak Park in Lewiston, died Wednesday, Nov. 6.
He was born in Brunswick on June 11, 1932, a son of the late Gaudias and Edith (Painchaud) Caron. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army as a paratrooper. This is also when he started his career as a chef.
Joseph married his one true love, Gisele (Boivin), on Jan. 20, 1951, in Fort Benning, Ga.; she predeceased him in March 2012. He was a loving husband and missed Gisele every day since her passing.
Joe spent the majority of his career working as a chef at Bowdoin College, before retiring from Bowdoin in 1991. He was a former member of the VFW.
He leaves his four children, Linda Marquis of Brunswick, Ronald Caron of Lewiston, Donald Caron and wife, Linda, of Lewiston and Lisa Erskine and husband, James, of Turner; four grandchildren, John Marquis and wife, Karina, of Connecticut, Sarah Dumais and husband, Greg, of Lewiston, and Morgan and Courtney Erskine of Turner; and two great-grandsons, Benjamin and Dominic Dumais of Lewiston.
He was predeceased by a son, Cornel Caron; a sister, Jeannine Caron; and a brother, Nelson Caron.
