FARMINGTON — A preliminary 2014-15 budget for the Unorganized Territory in Franklin County reflects a $251,580 decrease from the current budget.

The lower budget is mainly due to $150,000 being proposed for paving compared to $450,000 this year.

Franklin County commissioners received a rough work estimate of improvements in 2012 that are needed on the roads they oversee. It was more than $1 million.

There had also been $25,000 added for work on Vile Road in the current budget that was to be done this fall.

Franklin County commissioners will discuss the budget further at its Nov. 18 meeting at the county courthouse. They requested that Kingfield representatives come in to explain why the proposed waste disposal budget of $60,000 for Salem Township is up $42,000 from the current budget.

The UT budget needs to be completed by the end of December to send to the state, county Clerk Julie Magoon told commissioners on Nov. 5.
