PARIS — William H. Meserve, Veteran of the Month at the Maine Veterans’ Home, was born in Pownal on May 11, 1918. He grew up in several different towns in Maine.

Meserve entered the service on May 31, 1944, and served in Germany during World War II. He did the cleanup after the war. He was discharged on July 18, 1946.

In 1939 Meserve got married and had two daughters. He also has four grandchildren.

Meserve worked at Wilner Wood Products as a pattern maker. He built his own home and cottage. He liked to make furniture and all kinds of wood products.

Meserve enjoyed playing cards “63,” dominoes, checkers, woodworking and reading the newspaper.

Meserve came to the Maine Veterans’ Home on May 23, 2012. He is thanked for his service.
