LIVERMORE — Selectpersons voted Monday to enter into a contract with Larry Lord of Jay to be animal control officer as of Dec. 1, Administrative Assistant Kurt Schaub said Wednesday.
Wayne Atwood of Jay notified selectpersons more than a month ago that he would be resigning as animal control officer Nov. 30.
As of Dec. 1, the process to report an animal complaint will change. Calls to the animal control officer must be made through the Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Department at 753-2599, Schaub said.
Lord has a full-time day job and most responses will be during the early evening hours, which is the same as his work as the animal control officer in Livermore Falls.
He told Livermore selectpersons that he would be willing to fill the position, providing the number of calls doesn’t get too excessive, he said.
Lord will be paid $15 an hour, plus mileage.
