1919 – 2013
BRADENTON, Fla. — Marion L. Gardner, 94, passed away Saturday, Nov. 16, at her Bradenton, Fla., home.
She was born in Madison on Aug. 31, 1919, to William and Irene Brooks. She graduated from Madison High School and was married for 67 years to George E. Gardner of Jay. They lived in Maine, before relocating to East Hartford, Conn., in 1944.
She worked as a secretary to the director of transportation for First National Stores and enjoyed parenting, homemaking, knitting and sewing. She was an active member of Wesley Memorial Church in East Hartford, Conn. She and her husband retired in 1985 and moved to Bradenton, Fla. Later in life, she played her Lowrey organ for the enjoyment of family and friends.
Predeceased by her parents, husband and oldest son, Richard Gardner, she is survived by her youngest son, David Gardner, of Bradenton. Other surviving relatives, all of whom live in Maine, include two grandchildren, Rick and Robin Gardner; four great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and one great-great-great-grandchild.
