FARMINGTON — Downtown Farmington is decorated with pink and gold for Saturday’s third annual Ladies Day Out.

The event is to pamper, entertain and appeal to women and is sponsored by the Farmington Downtown Association.

Starting at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 23, at the Homestead Kitchen Bar and Bakery, women can pick up a bag with information on the sales, specials and events, Chairwoman Laurie Danforth said.

“Last year, there was a line from our door to Reny’s,” she said. Complimentary gift bags with a discount guide, raffle tickets and sweet treats are available there until 4 p.m.

Most downtown businesses are participating with sales, specials or fun events, she said.

There’s nail painting and a balsam pillow-making demonstration at Mooseville, a 10-minute chair massage with Matthew Potvin at Heartwood Family Health, fudge-tasting at Richard’s Florist, chair massages at Serenity Holistic, demonstrations and acupuncture treatments by Mary Lello, and stress management tips and wine-tasting at The Homestead Kitchen, Bar and Bakery.

Ladies Day Out is also for Christmas shopping, Gloria McGraw, association member said. “There’s 50 different discounts and events being offered,” she said.

The three downtown banks furnished the bags and each participating business is offering sale items or events with a special focus on women, she said.

Sue Jones will present her Holiday Youth Dancers at noon at The Homestead, Danforth said. Jones has produced a holiday children’s show for 14 years in Kingfield. This year she’s bringing it to Farmington with a production planned for Chester Greenwood Day. Saturday’s presentation will be a mini-show of that, she said.

Ladies Day Out was started after Beth Beaudoin, who chaired the promotion committee at that time, suggested women in Farmington needed a day out, Danforth said.

The town is decorated with cedar trees with pink and gold decorations. The pink is for the ladies, the gold for the start of the holiday season, she said.
