1917 – 2013

LEWISTON — Grace E. Anctil, 96, a resident of Lucille Avenue, affectionately known as “Amazing Grace,” died Sunday, Nov. 17, at her residence, following a short illness, with her loving family by her side.

She was born in Portland, April 10, 1917, the daughter of Joseph and Melvina (Carrigan) Emond. Grace’s family was her greatest love especially her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

She was a member of Holy Family Church and a former member of the Ladies of St. Anne. Grace loved bingo, the casino, crocheting and knitting. She was also pleased to have the opportunity to see her beloved Boston Red Sox win another World Series Championship.

Survivors include one son, Roland N. Anctil and wife, Arlene, of Lewiston; three daughters, Pauline C. Benjamin and husband, Donald, of Lisbon Falls, Irene T. Warner and husband, Paul, of Lewiston and Rita C. Anctil and companion, Debra Davis, of California. Also surviving are seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Alcide E. Anctil; her brothers, Emile, Wilfred and Joseph; and her sisters, Jeannette, Cecile and Juliette.
