JAY — The following are the upcoming week’s happenings at Spruce Mountain High School.

Spruce Mountain High School Community Theatre will present “The Emperor’s New Clothes” at 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 13. Admission is $5.

A food drive sponsored by Student Council and the National Honor Society will be held from Tuesday, Dec. 10, through Tuesday, Dec. 17. Each Connections group will decorate a collection box festively and collect food. Money can also be collected with each dollar counting as one item towards the group’s total. The Connections group with the most items will receive homemade holiday treats to enjoy during connections time on Friday, Dec. 20.

Organizers are counting on the student body to collect enough food to fill baskets for the families of 15 students in the school district. Verso Paper has agreed to donate turkeys for each.

A basketball game and food drive will be held Monday, Dec. 16. A canned good brought to the game will pay for admission.

Spruce Mountain High School Band and Jazz Band will have their Holiday Concert at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 17, at the Spruce Mountain Middle School gym. There is no cost for admission and everyone is welcome. Favorite holiday music will be played.

Athletics include boys JV/varsity basketball vs. Winthrop, 4 and 5:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 16; girls varsity basketball vs. Winthrop, 7 p.m., Monday, Dec. 16; girls JV/varsity basketball at Boothbay, 5:30 and 7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 18; boys JV/varsity basketball at Boothbay, 5:30 and 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 19; girls JV/varsity basketball vs. Dirigo at 5:30 and 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 20; boys JV/varsity basketball vs. Dirigo at 5:30 and 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 21; and a girls JV/varsity basketball makeup games at Mountain Valley at 5:30 and 7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 23.
