AUGUSTA (AP) — The average price of gasoline in Maine went up by less than a penny per gallon in the past week and remains about where it was one year ago.

The gasoline pricing website GasBuddy.com says drivers in Maine are paying an average of $3.49 a gallon for gas, according to a survey of more than 1,200 Maine gasoline outlets.

The average price of gas nationally increased by just over two cents since last week, to $3.23 a gallon.

Prices in Maine are less than half a cent higher than they averaged last year at this time.

GasBuddy petroleum analyst Patrick DeHaan said he expects gas prices will increase slightly but predicts gas prices in next year will average less than they have throughout 2013.
