BANGOR — An allegedly drunken Florida woman who wasn’t too pleased with her flight from Bangor International Airport to the Sunshine State being delayed wound up cooling off in jail on Sunday, police said.
Janet Dinardi, 54, of Nokomis, Fla., was agitated because her Allegiant Air flight had been delayed due to Sunday’s snowstorm, and she was swearing loudly near the gate and throwing personal items around, said Bangor police Sgt. Cathy Rumsey.
An undisclosed number of passengers had been waiting to board the flight around 3:30 p.m. when Dinardi began to act erratically, Rumsey said. After passengers moved away from Dinardi, Officer Chris Desmond stepped in and tried to calm her down.
Dinardi, however, began directing her frustration at Desmond, who subsequently gave her a disorderly conduct warning, while an Allegiant Air staff member informed Dinardi she would not be allowed to board the flight due to her level of intoxication and unruliness, Rumsey said.
Dinardi was escorted to the first floor of the terminal and asked to leave the airport, and she continued to act without cooperation, according to Rumsey.
Police finally placed Dinardi under arrest and charged her with criminal trespass and disorderly conduct, Rumsey said. She was released on bail from Penobscot County Jail and has a Feb. 3 court date.
