1927 – 2013

LEWISTON — Irene M. Plourde, 86, formerly of 378 Foster Road, Auburn, died at the d’Youville Pavilion in Lewiston on Dec. 10.

Born in Lewiston on August 10, 1927, she was the daughter of Alphonse and Jean Durocher Bisson. Educated in local schools, she married Gaston “Gus” Plourde on Oct. 12, 1946. He passed away on Oct. 16, 2012. Prior to her retirement, she worked several different jobs, including as a spinner in the local textile industry, for Globe Albany (now Gates Formed Fiber), and for Raytheon. A member of Sacred Heart Church, Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish, she had a beautiful voice and loved to sing, enjoyed any gathering of family and friends, going to the beach, crochet and especially loved time spent with her grandchildren.

Survivors include two sons, Laurier and wife, Linda Morin, of Saco, and Roland and wife, Carol, of Poland; a daughter, Jeannine and husband, Robert Hobson, of Dudley, Mass.; a brother, Lucien Bisson of Turner; two sisters, Lucille Reny of Auburn and Jeannette Joncas of New Gloucester; six grandchildren, Lisa Boisvert, Stephanie Recchia, Joshua Kidder, Celeste Dargelis, Carrie Norton and Chelsea Mackos; and four great-grandchildren, Brandan Mills, Lorenzo Recchia and Eleanor and Charlotte Dargelis.

Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a brother, Gerald Bisson; and two sisters, Muriel Belanger and Yvette Lamontagne.
