1942 – 2014

LEWISTON — Laurier N. Lemelin, 71, of Lewiston, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 8.

He was born in Lewiston on Dec. 21, 1942, a son of the late Hector and Marguerite (Letourneau) Lemelin. He grew up in the Lewiston area and attended local schools there. He was a graduate of St. Dominic Regional High School, Class of 1961 and Bliss College in 1967. He was in the Air Force from 1961 to 1965. He and Irene C. (Belanger) Lemelin married in October of 1969. He was a hard worker and worked for years as a sales representative for a tobacco firm and then was in coffee sales, which he so enjoyed, especially in the last few years working for Seacoast Coffee on a part time basis. He also became a real estate broker for Lionel Guay Associates back in 1988. He then acquired some real estate properties and was a proud property owner always taking care of his tenants. He was happiest with his family and so loved his sons and grandchildren. A hard worker he was, and enjoyed every minute of it. Laurier was an avid fan of ice hockey and a big supporter of the Bruins. He also enjoyed being outdoors, walking in the woods, and while growing up, he enjoyed going to Tacoma Lake to his aunt’s camp with his family and then going to East Sumner to his Uncle’s camp for hunting. Later he became part owner of a hunting camp in Jackman with some of his friends and genuinely enjoyed going there. His passion was being outside, working and his family. He was a gentle man who never said much, but had so much love for his family.

He will be sadly missed by his loving wife, Irene; sons, Frank and wife, Vicki, Dana and partner, Patrick; his grandchildren, Guy, Mariah, Erica and Katie; his sister, Claudette; his brother, Paul and wife, Lee Anne; and his dog, Austin.

He was predeceased by his brothers, Frank and Normand.
