Relay for Life meet and greet

RUMFORD — A Relay For Life meet and greet will be held in conference room A at the Rumford Hospital at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 14. Attendees will meet the new income development leader, Lisa, and help form a new committee for the event. Everyone is welcome

The American Cancer Society Relay For Life of the River Valley will be held at Hosmer Field on June 6-7. It is a great way to help those that are battling cancer, a way to remember loved ones lost and provides an opportunity to fight back against the disease.

Neighborly Senior Citizens

PERU —  The Neighborly Senior Citizens will meet at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 15, at the old Peru School. There will be a potluck lunch after the meeting. As always if there is no school there will be no meeting.

Fish chowder luncheon Jan. 17

FARMINGTON — The Fairbanks Union Church will hold a fish chowder luncheon from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 17.

The luncheon includes chowder, biscuit, pickles, cheese, pumpkin dessert and cream, salt pork and coffee/tea beverages.

For delivery within five miles of the church, call 778-4705. The donation for the luncheon is $6.

The luncheons are held on the third Friday of months with an “r” in them.

NORWAY — A free supper will be held from 5 to 6 p.m. Friday, Jan. 17, at Second Congregational Church, UCC, 205 Main St. All are invited.

The Second Congregational Church, U.C.C. is an open and affirming congregation. All are welcome to worship, study and join in fellowship. Worship and church school is every Sunday at 10 a.m.

Art Group plans annual meeting

NORWAY — Western Maine Art Group will hold its Annual Meeting from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 19, in the Harper Room of the Ripley Building, next to Stephen’s Memorial Hospital.

There will be refreshments, raffles for art prizes and art supplies, to kick off the New Year.

The annual meeting will help bring members up to date with any developments and events.There will be a formal election of officers.

The slate of officers so far is as follows: Mike Everett, president; Dennise Whitley, vice president; Ulla Hansen, treasurer; and Irina Kahn, secretary.

The group will clarify its vision for the year. Committees will also be established. The meeting will be quick and to the point.

The group has had a successful year improving the Matolcsy Arts Center and establishing The Main Street Gallery.

The new membership year began Jan. 1. All renewals and new memberships are welcome.

Rabies vaccination, microchipping

NORWAY — A rabies vaccination and microchipping clinic will take place from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 25, at the Norway Fire Station, 19 Danforth St.

Rabies vaccination cost is $10. Microchipping cost is $25.

Dr. Suzanne Best, DVM, will be the attending veterinarian.

The clinic is hosted by Responsible Pet Care.

Microchipping will aid in locating pets in case of a disaster or if they are lost.
