1934 – 2014

FARMINGTON — C. Elaine Johnson, 79, a resident of Old Jay Hill Road, passed away on Friday, Jan. 17, at Sandy River Center in Farmington, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born Oct. 27, 1934, in Dryden, the daughter of John Cameron and Inez A. (Heydman) Cameron. She was a graduate of Jay High School. On Aug. 14, 1954, in Jay, she married her husband of 59 years, Harold M. Johnson. Elaine was the treasurer for the town of Jay for several years, but dedicated most of her time to her family. She was a member of Jay Baptist Church and was very involved over the years. She enjoyed her flower gardens, watching birds and doing crafts. Elaine also loved traveling to go visit their children.

She is survived by three sons, John Johnson and his wife, Sharon, Michael Johnson, and Bill Johnson and his wife, Corrina, all of Jay; three daughters and their husbands, Sandy and Pete Bryant of New Sharon, Nadine and Larry Ivey of Slidell, La., and Valerie and Kevin Samson of Palm Bay, Fla.; 14 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; and her sister, Rhoda Melcher and her husband, Robert, of Winslow.

She was predeceased by her grandson, Jeremiah Johnson; and granddaughter, Heather Johnson.
