Get out of the house and stop by for some old-time fun, meet the neighbors and make new friends. Activities are provided by interpreters in period clothing portraying people of the Norlands neighborhood or members of the original Livermore Washburn family.

The schoolmarm will be ready to greet you in the one-room schoolhouse for a lesson from the 1800s and an old-fashioned spelling bee (hint: brush up on president names before 1853). You can try using a quill pen or test your skills in mental arithmetic.

In the mansion you can chat with Washburn granddaughters “Anna Maud” or “Ada,” as they show you through the family home and tell stories about their famous family.

In the Washburn kitchen, talk with “Aunt Clara Howard” and make a journal to record your adventure in the 19th century. The Farmer’s Cottage will be a busy place with old-fashioned chores and games. Here you can help with the ironing and piecing quilt squares, explore how mystery artifacts were used, and meet other Livermore neighbors.

Enjoy cookies and hot chocolate fresh from the woodstove. New this year: sleigh rides. If there is not enough snow, then wagon rides will be offered.

In case of bad weather, this event will be canceled. Please call ahead or check the Norlands’ Facebook Page for updates by 9 a.m. the morning of the event.
