The event was organized by the Maine Coalition to Fight Prostate Cancer chairman and CEO Terry Kungel; Nelson Leavitt, founder and past president; and board members Ole and Sandra Jaeger. Organizations that attended included Mary Dempsey, assistant director, and Kathleen Wing, integrative medicine coordinator from the Patrick Dempsey Cancer Center for Hope and Healing; Phyllis Cohn from the Susan G. Komen Foundation; and Mike Proulx, wellness director at the Bath YMCA – Livestrong at the YMCA. Attendees met with Gov. LePage and the legislative body. The purpose of the event was to put a personal face on a disease that claims more than 3000 lives here in Maine each year.
