MEXICO —  With free IRS approved software and a trained coach, Region 9 Adult Education will help people learn to do their taxes.

Classes will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesdays, Feb. 5 and 12. To sign up, call Region 9 Adult Education at 364-2012 to enroll. There is no cost to participants.

The first night, taxpayers will complete the basic paperwork and find out what else they need to complete their tax forms. The second night, taxpayers will fill out their forms and get ready to file their taxes. The software is available online, so after this year, the taxpayers will be able to complete their taxes on their own, without having to pay high processing fees.

The program is sponsored by Region 9 Adult Education, United Way of Oxford County, IRS and Maine CA$H.

Note that there will be no free tax preparation at Region 9 this year. This class replaces the VITA and Oxford County CA$H programs.
