1937 – 2014

AUBURN — Patricia Elaine Davis, 76, of Davis Farm in Sabattus, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Jan. 29, surrounded by family and friends at the Androscoggin Hospice House.

Born in Lewiston on March 10, 1937, she was the daughter of John P. and Doris Jones Connell. She was raised in Lisbon Falls and attended school there, graduating from Lisbon High School in 1955. Patricia attended the CMG School of Nursing.

On July 14, 1956, she married her best friend, Melville Jerome Davis II. Together, they lived on Davis Farm in Sabattus, where they raised dairy cattle and four sons.

When she wasn’t cooking or chasing after her boys (and later, her grandchildren), Pat enjoyed reading, crocheting, knitting and quilting. She always had a large garden, and enjoyed canning the harvest and making pickles. Pat was extremely proud of her Hereford show cattle (aka lawn ornaments) and enjoyed having them shown at fairs throughout the state by her son, Jerry.

Patricia loved spending time with family and friends at the family camp in Rangeley. She had fond memories of “boony cruising” with her husband and weekends snowmobiling throughout the Maine woods. Patricia also loved to travel. Time spent with friends while traveling to Ontario, Prince Edward Island, Arizona and Denver were among her treasured memories.

Patricia worked for the town of Sabattus School Department, driving the school bus for special needs children. She also served on the Planning Board for the town of Sabattus and was a committee member on the Women’s Androscoggin Farm Bureau. The job she loved the most was being a farm wife.

Patricia is survived by her beloved husband of 57 years, Melville Jerome Davis II; three sons, Melville Jerome Davis III “Jerry” and his wife, Norma, Glenn C. Davis and his wife, Jackie, and Scott W. Davis and his wife, Lisa; and a daughter-in-law, Joan. Pat was blessed with six grandchildren, Jessica, Joshua, Matthew, Erica, Courtney and Jordan. She is also survived by her brother-in-law, Jack Davis, and his family; a special cousin, Nancy Kilbride; as well as her collie dog, Lady.

She was predeceased by her parents and a son, Michael J. Davis.

Pat’s family wishes to thank the compassionate caregivers at Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice.
