BATH — An 18-year-old Hyde School student was taken to Mid Coast Hospital in Brunswick on Friday night for what police suspect was a heroin overdose.
On Friday, Hyde School officials reported that several juvenile students were missing from the school, according to Bath Police Lt. Robert Savary.
Later, at 10:45 p.m., police responded a reported disturbance at Shaw’s Supermarket on Chandler Drive. From that scene, officers transported an 18-year-old woman, identified as a Hyde School student, to Mid Coast Hospital for what Savary said was likely a heroin overdose. The student, whose name was not released, was later released to her parents, who live in Connecticut.
The student had apparently been at a party in Bath with local adults, Savary said. Officers continue to investigate the incident, but no charges have been filed.
Malcolm Gauld, president of Hyde School, said Monday, “We’re certainly interested, and want to see exactly what it was. It’s a pretty private matter.”
