AUBURN — Betty Jean (Harlow) Letourneau, 86, of Lisbon, died Tuesday, Jan. 28, at the Androscoggin Hospice House in Auburn.
She was born in Lewiston on Oct. 18, 1927, and graduated from the University of Maine Nursing School in 1950. Betty married Herman Letourneau of Concord, N.H., on Oct. 28, 1950, and began her nursing career at Concord State Hospital. Returning to Maine in 1954, she became a nursing instructor at the nursing school at Central Maine General Hospital, then continued her career at St. Mary’s Hospital School of Nursing in Lewiston.
Betty was an avid genealogist and a member of the Sargent William Harlow Family Association, the Mayflower Society and Daughters of the American Revolution.
She was the widow of Herman N. Letourneau; the loving mother of Lori Letourneau and husband, Russell Dechamplain, of Lisbon, Diane Letourneau and husband, Frank Shelley, of Weymouth, Mass., and Stephen Letourneau and wife, Vickie Goodness, of Madison, Ala.; the proud grandmother of Kathleen Shelley Glocke and husband, Dr. Scott Glocke, and his son, Mason Glocke, of Old Orchard Beach, Allison Dechamplain of Lisbon Falls and Kym Roberge of Sabattus; and the sister of Robert H. Harlow of South Portland.
