1925 – 2014

WEST PARIS — Gerard A. Vallee, 89, of Alexander Avenue in Rumford, passed away on Monday, Feb. 3, at Ledgeview Living Center, following a long illness.

He was born in Rumford on Jan. 6, 1925, a son of Joseph D. and Annie E. (Gallant) Vallee. Gerard was educated in Rumford schools and was a graduate of Stephens High School, Class of 1946. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II. Gerard was employed for 37 years with the former Oxford Paper Co.

He was a communicant of Parish of the Holy Savior and was a member of the Oakdale Country Club, the Fraternal Order of Eagles, the VFW, the Boise 25-Year Club and the Rumford Senior Citizens. Gerard loved skiing, swimming and golfing, and was an avid walker who could be found walking most anywhere in town.

Surviving are his lifelong friend and caregiver, Walter L. Jones, of Rumford; a brother, Rudy Vallee and wife, Carolyn, of Sharon, Tenn.; a niece, Jean Shaw, of Roxbury Pond; and several other nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents; two sisters, Pauline O’Leary and Germaine Royer; and four brothers, Lawrence, Norman, Omer and Phillip Vallee.
