STANDISH — Schoolhouse Arts Center will hold auditions for “Godspell” from 6-8 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 23; and from 6-7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 24. Callbacks will be from 7-9 p.m. Monday, Feb. 24. Auditions will be held at Schoolhouse Arts Center, 16 Richville Road, Route 114.

Be prepared to sing a Broadway-style song. Actors will be asked to cold read at auditions. Materials will be provided at the audition. This production is seeking older teens (ages 17-19) and adults.

“Godspell” presents the “Gospel According to St. Matthew” in a series of skits and songs, with Jesus and his disciples presented as unique and colorful clown-like characters in this musical featuring songs by Stephen Schwartz, conceived and originally directed by John-Michael Tebelak.

“Godspell” features the international hit “Day By Day,” as well as “Prepare Ye The Way Of The Lord,” “Learn Your Lessons Well,” “All For The Best,” “All Good Gifts” and “Beautiful City.” In this energetic, uplifting musical, the parables of Jesus Christ come to life with abundant humanity and heart. Drawing from various theatrical traditions, such as clowning, pantomime, acrobatics and vaudeville, “Godspell” is a unique reflection on the life of Jesus with a message of kindness, tolerance, and love.
