1951 – 2014

RUMFORD — Peter M. Vance, 62, died Wednesday, Feb. 5, at Rumford Hospital. He was a resident of Davis Street in Rumford.

Born in Portland on July 10, 1951, he was a son of Milton and Anita (Paquette) Vance Sr., and a graduate of Rumford High School, Class of 1970. He worked for Boise Cascade Paper Mill in Rumford as a store-room clerk. He was also on the hazmat team and a volunteer fireman for the Rumford Fire Department for many years. He enjoyed camping and watching the Red Sox.

Peter was married in Dixfield on Nov. 18, 1972, to Alice M. Farrington of Rumford, who survives him. Other survivors include his two sons, Peter Jr. and his wife, Sandra, of Norway and David and his companion, Nona, of Peru; three grandchildren, Devon and Kaylie Vance of Norway and Ashley Vance of Peru; brothers, Robert Vance Sr. and his wife, Sue, Milton Vance Jr., Gerald Vance and Lee Vance and his wife, Ellen, all of Connecticut; three sisters, Donna Worcester and her husband, Steve, Janet Bradley and her husband, Herbie, of Florida and Priscilla Ruff and her husband, Roger, of Harpswell; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents.
