LEWISTON — The Maine Women’s Network will meet for lunch on Wednesday, Feb. 12, at the Franco-American Heritage Center. The guest speaker is Holly Couturier, the principal of Washburn School in Auburn.

Holly Couturier is no stranger to meeting challenges face-on, and although the school was given a “failing” grade earlier this year, the school continues to overcome many obstacles, including high poverty and mobility rates which bring on the challenges of increased childhood hunger and bullying in order to survive the streets, all while increasing test scores and receiving a high quality education.

Couturier, a single mother of two children who worked four jobs while continuing her education, earning her Ph.D. at age 27, will share her personal success story as well as the challenges Washburn students face and how she helps them rise above.

The lunch will begin promptly at 11:30. The cost is $16 for members;  $20 for non-members. Non-members are always welcome.
