OTISFIELD — The Board of Selectmen hopes to nail down costs for the proposed Cobb Hill Road erosion control project at its next meeting.
“It’s difficult. We want to get something to town meeting this year but we need to provide an idea of the costs (to voters),” selectmen Chairman Hal Ferguson said.
Selectmen had hoped to discuss the Cobb Hill Road study from the Oxford County Soil and Water Conservation District at Wednesday night’s meeting, but the snowstorm prevented engineer Ross Cudlitz from attending.
For the past month, Cudlitz has been working with the town to fix the erosion problem. Otisfield Conservation Committee members and residents have met with the board in previous months to express concern about the state of the road.
The board asked Cudlitz, an engineer who has successfully worked on other Otisfield erosion projects, to inspect the damage and report to them with a solution and associated costs.
“He gave us a cost to do it in phases. We want to talk about it,” Ferguson said. He declined to reveal the cost estimates until the full board reviews it with Cudlitz.
Ferguson said one way to accomplish the project would be to prioritize the needs and do it in phases.
The board will discuss the issue at its Feb. 19 meeting.
